What We Reviewed
- The lightest helmet in the market (1,200g)
- DOT and ECE 22-05 approved
- Carbon Fiber Shell
Features
The Nexx XR1R is an engineering marvel. This helmet is made of carbon fiber, and it weighs just about 1,200g. Light helmets are favored over heavier helmets, because when you ride with a lighter helmet like the XR1R, you end the day much less tired after a day of riding than when you use a heavier helmet.
The XR1R has very little buffeting and remains stable regardless of the wind direction. We like the fact that the liner of this helmet is plush and fully customizable. The helmet has a shield that reaches high up and enables you to see clearly even when you are tucked. The helmet has chin vents, and you will feel the helmet fill with cool air as soon as you put it on. This helmet has a large pinlock anti-fogging insert and one of the largest shields we have seen in a helmet.
The big shield enables a rider to have a wide field of view both vertically and horizontally. This helmet has a number of bright reflective white spots for visibility.
The XR1R is most suited to people with oval heads. However, people of all head shapes can customize the interior of the helmet to suit their head’s shape by adding pads provided for this purpose.
Warranty
This helmet comes with a two-year warranty that covers the first buyer against manufacturing defects.

The Nexx XG100 is a full face helmet with retro looks. The helmet has a smooth, round shell reminiscent of the helmets of the 1970s. But don’t let its looks fool you, because this helmet is very modern in terms of function. The helmet is built with a tough composite shell, but it is lightweight. The XG100 has a number of safety accolades to its name. It meets both DOT and ECE safety requirements, but it is not Snell tested. Like the XR1R, this helmet weighs about 1.2kg, and it has a double D-ring fastener.
The XG100 is reasonably quiet, but it is not the most ventilated helmet. The helmet has at least one ventilation slit in the chin guard. You will need to use goggles for this helmet because it doesn’t come with a standard visor, but it does have a 60 percent smoked visor made from soft plastic. This helmet’s internal liners and pads are water-wicking, removable, and washable.

The X.R2 carbon pure helmet is a lightweight helmet that weighs about 1.27 kg. This helmet has certifications from ECE, DOT, and SHARP (with a rating of 3 out of 5 stars). The helmet has a multi-density, shock-absorbing lining, and it has a number of reflectors and a double D-ring fastener on the strap. The helmet also has a quick-release mechanism that could save your life in case you are involved in an accident. This helmet only comes in two shell sizes, but it has a wide visor aperture with a pinlock anti-fog.
The X.R2 has average noise ratings among owners. This helmet has just one chin vent and two crown vents. You can flick a panel to open the chin vent while the crown vents have three-way sliders to control the level of opening. The helmet has a quick release visor with an opening that has a lot of space and gives a lot of vertical and peripheral vision. The padding in this helmet is moisture-wicking, anti-allergenic, and is removable and washable.

The X.WST2 helmet is a street helmet with a carbon fiber shell. The helmet has a drop-down sun visor in addition to its standard panoramic visor. The XG100 Racer is a newer version of the retro XG100. Nexx updated the XG100 to make the XG100 Racer. This helmet has a permanent flip-up visor, so you don’t have to ride around with goggles. This visor can easily be flipped up with the thumb by pressing a tab that is incorporated into its design. This visor is also safer than the plastic sun visor of the XG100 and is made from a fog- and scratch-resistant material called PC Lexan. The carbon fiber version of this helmet is a pleasure to look at, but it still maintains its classic round, smooth shape.
The lining material of the XG100 Racer has more cushion than that of the classic XG100 and is made from a tan suede-like material. This helmet also allows you to close the vent at the front, and it also comes with a chin deflector to reduce internal airflow and wind noise. This helmet is DOT- and ECE-approved. At a weight of 1,300 grams, this helmet is slightly heavier than the classic XG100.

The Verdict

We believe the XR1R is the best Nexx helmet for most people. This helmet is stylish, affordable, and very quiet. It is also lightweight and has the prestigious ECE 22.05 safety rating.
Lovers of vintage helmets, however, will love the XG100 Racer helmet. This helmet has a permanent flip-up visor, modern water-wicking lining, and closable air vents, but it still keeps its retro look.
